Do you offer aquarium maintenance in South Frontenac?
Yes. Aquarium maintenance across South Frontenac is a core service, covering Perth Road Village, Sydenham, Verona, Harrowsmith, Inverary, Battersea and Hartington, plus Kingston and the surrounding area. Visits include water changes, water chemistry testing, algae and gravel cleaning, filter maintenance, and fish and plant health checks.
Do you do pond maintenance in Kingston?
Yes. Pond maintenance in Kingston and throughout South Frontenac is priced at $200 per visit and covers routine upkeep, water testing, algae management, filter and pump checks, and a look at fish condition. Mileage applies beyond a 20km radius of Perth Road Village.
Do you close and open ponds for the season?
Yes. Pond closing, the fall winterization visit, is $300 and covers shutting down and storing pumps and filtration where needed, clearing leaves and debris, cutting back plants, and setting the pond up to overwinter safely with your fish in it. Pond opening, the spring startup visit, is $250 and covers restarting pumps and filtration, clean-out after the thaw, water testing and balancing, and a health check on fish coming out of winter. Both are one-time seasonal visits on existing ponds, separate from the $200 routine pond maintenance visit. Mileage applies beyond a 20km radius of Perth Road Village.
Can I book tank or pond service if I am not going away?
Yes. Tank and pond care is not limited to vacation coverage. Book it as a one-time clean-up or as ongoing scheduled maintenance, whether you are home or away. Recurring visits qualify for the standard recurring discounts, and monthly maintenance plans are quoted on request.
What does aquatic care cost?
Maintenance is priced by tank size: $60 for a small tank up to 20 gallons, $95 for a medium tank of 20 to 50 gallons, $160 for a large tank of 50 to 100 gallons, and $200 for a pond maintenance visit. Setup is separate: $120 small, $180 medium, $280 large, and $400 for a pond.
How much does it cost to set up a new fish tank?
Tank setup is $120 for a small tank up to 20 gallons, $180 for a medium tank of 20 to 50 gallons, and $280 for a large tank of 50 to 100 gallons. Pond setup is $400. Setup includes consultation, equipment installation, the first water check before stocking, and initial stocking guidance once your tank is ready for fish. Additional check-ins during the cycling period bill as regular maintenance visits at standard per-size rates.
Do you build new ponds?
No. Pond setup at $400 is for existing ponds only, not new pond construction or excavation. If you already have a pond that needs equipment, filtration, water balancing and stocking guidance, that is exactly what pond setup covers.
What makes aquatic care a specialty rather than an add-on here?
Jacob owns East Ontario Aquaculture, an indoor shrimp farm, so water chemistry, filtration and livestock health are daily working knowledge rather than an occasional extra. That is backed by a BSc in Bioveterinary Science with a minor in Aquaculture. Most local sitters do not offer tank or pond service at all.
What water parameters do you test?
Standard checks cover ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, temperature and water hardness, with salinity for marine systems. Results are recorded each visit so trends are visible over time, and any parameter drifting out of range is flagged to you with a recommended correction.
I already book a dog or cat visit. Can you just feed the fish?
Yes. Fish feeding alongside another visit, with no tank service, is a $5 per visit add-on rather than the full tank or pond rate. An additional tank or pond at the same property is $20 per visit.
